Rosaiah missed the official functions attended by Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh at Tirupati on Wednesday due to viral fever.
78-year-old Rosaiah was supposed to fly to Tirupati along
with Governor E S L Narasimhan, but could not do so as he was
down with viral fever and the doctors advised him to take rest
for the day.
"A team of doctors examined him. The Chief Minister was
suffering from simple viral fever and the doctors advised him
rest till tomorrow morning. There is no need to worry,"
principal secretary (Health) P V Ramesh told reporters here.
"We conducted various tests like blood, x-ray, urine and
everything was normal. We also conducted tests for H1N1,
dengue and chikungunya and the results were negative for all
of them," director of the premier state-run Nizam`s Institute
of Medical Sciences (NIMS) K Prasada Rao said.
On whether Rosaiah would be able to fly to Kurnool to
attend the function to observe the first death anniversary of
late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy tomorrow, he said
the doctors would take a call on it tomorrow morning.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister laid the
foundation stones for the mega BHEL-NTPC joint venture project
near Tirupati and also the Tirupati airport modernisation and
In Rosaiah`s absence, Major Industries Minister K
Laxminarayana read out his message at the BHEL-NTPC function
and Forest Minister P Ramachandra Reddy read the Chief
Minister`s speech at the Tirupati airport upgrading function.
Later in the evening, Rosaiah thanked the Prime Minister,
Union Ministers Sushilkumar Shinde, Vilasrao Deshmukh and
Praful Patel for their visit to Tirupati.
"I was not able to attend both the foundation stone
laying ceremonies due to fever and doctor`s advice. But I take
this opportunity to profusely thank Prime Minister Manmohan
Singh and the Union Ministers for coming to Tirupati and
laying the foundation stone for the Mannavaram Power Equipment
Project and the new International Airport at Tirupati,"
Rosaiah said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Governor Narsimhan called on the Chief
Minister on his return from Tirrupati.
The Governor went to Rosaiah`s residence straight from
the airport and enquired about his health.
