Andhra by-polls: 10 per cent polling till 9.00 am

About ten per cent polling was reported till 09:00 hours with no untoward incident from anywhere in the 12 Assembly constituencies in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh where by-polls are being held on Tuesday.

reported till 09:00 hours with no untoward incident from
anywhere in the 12 Assembly constituencies in the Telangana
region of Andhra Pradesh where by-polls are being held on Tuesday.

The polling started at 07:00 hours in the 12
constituencies, including five seats where ballot papers are
being used. The polling will continue till 17:00 hours.

The Election Commission is using 3-G mobile phones and
other latest communication devices to obtain up to date
information on polling.

The state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO)I V Subba Rao
spoke to polling officials and polling agents in Warangal
where 3G mobile phones have been provided. He also witnessed
the polling via the phones.

CC-cameras have been installed at some sensitive
polling stations and they are connected to the CEO`s office in
Hyderabad via Internet to monitor the polling in progress.

The counting of votes will be take place on July 30.

The by-polls are necessitated as the sitting MLAs had
quit their posts in support of separate Telangana.
