Andhra bypolls: Big win for TRS, Congress wiped out

In a setback to the Congress in Andhra Pradesh, the ruling party on Wednesday failed to open its account in the recently held Assembly bypolls counting for which was held on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: In a setback to the Congress in Andhra Pradesh, the ruling party on Wednesday failed to open its account in the recently held Assembly bypolls counting for which was held on Wednesday.

The TRS won four of the seven Assembly seats voting for which was held on Monday.

TRS candidates won in Station Ghanpur, Kamareddy, Adilabad and Kollapur, while TRS-backed Independent candidate and former TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy claimed victory over his rival in Nagarkurnool.

In Kovur, YSR Congress candidate N Prasanna Kumar Reddy beat TDP’s S Chandra Mohan Reddy.

The BJP also won one seat. The party’s Y Srinivas Reddy beat the ruling Congress candidate M Prakash in Mehabubnagar.
