Andhra CM Rosaiah resigns citing age Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah resigned on Wednesday, saying he was unable to withstand the work-pressure because of his age.

Minutes after making the announcement at a news conference, he drove to Raj Bhavan, submitted his resignation to Governor ESL Narasimhan and requested him to accept it with immediate effect.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) will elect a new leader at an emergency meeting on Wednesday evening.

The 78-year-old leader had taken over as the chief minister on September 3 last year following the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash.

The resignation came amid mounting pressure from a section of the party leaders to act against party MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the wake of a progarmme telecast by the latter's "Sakshi" channel criticizing Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

"There is no specific reason. Because of my age and because of the situation I am not able to withstand. So I sought permission from the high command for my resignation and at last they have agreed and permitted me. I am grateful to the high command, particularly Srimati Sonia Gandhi," Rosaiah told reporters.

He said he was satisfied with his work during the last 14 months and thanked Gandhi and all leaders and legislators of the party.

The veteran leader quit a day after his visit to New Delhi, where he is believed to have met Gandhi and submitted his resignation letter. On his return to Hyderabad Tuesday night, he announced that the CLP meeting would be held Wednesday evening.

Since the meeting's agenda was not decided, it was believed that it was called to isolate Jagan and his loyalists and condemn the programme aired on the channel.

Good luck with peace to mr. roshiah -congress veteran who applied chanakya neeti in crack down on kcr/trs & slaves so far .Roshaiah is good leader in bad political situation. it was his correct decision. But for his adept handling only saved congress for so long from murky, shameless, mudslinging, disunity within the congress t-region and other region mp’s, mla,s,party leaders openly in public. but for him congress party would have bitten the dust by now.

it is not easy time for future incumbent. following changes are necessary:-
a>,control or throw out from party dissenting t-region congress leaders.
b>.ignore jagan odarpu’s as his personal emotions to his father and ex-public leader.
C>.brutally expose KCR & slaves dubious deals and crush the hooliganism of kcr since for personal fortunes only kcr and salves are enacting T-drama.the crack down on kcr and slaves should be taken up on war footing even if necessary eliminating the selfish rascals immediately not wait and waste time till dec10.
d>.take diplomatic care of govt staff, autos and disgruntled dharna monger students ou/ku.youth etc.
e>.replace most t-ministers with fresh tough and foresight trouble shooter, firm decision makers -particularly in home ministry.

roshiah ship is sunk by congress is last word.

Hi,
Non corrupt political leader should come next.
Some of the Reddy Leaders in congress are corrupted. The CLP should think of those lines in taking the decision. Why one think of Reddies only? Think out of box and fixing the problem should not effect congress, next time we are expecting TDP will come into Rule, since there is lot of political instability due to congress. we support congress when good leader comes locally,i dont think anybody can get the fame of YSR immediatley.

I prefer the present governor mr. narasimhan for CM chair. He will clean the corrupt policians to some extent, as he is doing in universities, VC appointments, etc.
