Andhra CM speaks to Chidambaram about Collector`s abduction

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday appealed to the Centre to make efforts for the early release of Malkangiri district (Orissa) Collector Ravella Vineel Krishna who has been abducted by Maoists.

Reddy spoke to the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and
requested him to use his good offices for early release of
the IAS officer who hails from Guntur district in Andhra
Pradesh, a release from the state government said.

Reddy also spoke to Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik
and assured him that Andhra Pradesh government would extend
all necessary help in this regard.

Earlier, following directions from the Chief Minister,
Chief Secretary S V Prasad yesterday spoke to his counterpart
in Orissa, D K Patnaik, over phone and requested him to make
all efforts to get Krishna released at the earliest.

The IAS Officers` Association (AP Branch) too has
requested the Orissa government get Krishna released.
30-year-old R V Krishna (IAS 2005 batch, Orissa
cadre) was kidnapped on February 16 by a group of 50 Maoists
when he was on a visit to the remote Chitrakonda area.
