Andhra court convicts DSP, SI and a Constable

A Deputy Superintendent of Police, a Sub Inspector and a police constable were convicted by the Additional Special Judge for Anti Corruption Bureau cases involved in different cases.

Hyderabad: A Deputy Superintendent of
Police, a Sub Inspector and a police constable were convicted
by the Additional Special Judge for Anti Corruption Bureau
cases involved in different cases.

R Sai Krishna, DSP, formerly at Vikarabad, in Ranga
Reddy district was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment
for three years and a fine of Rs 10,000.

Besides, the bribe amount of Rs 2 lakh accepted by
the DSP was also ordered to be confiscated by the State, an
ACB release said.

The DSP had taken a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a
complainant for effecting the arrest of an accused in the
murder case registered by the Chevella Police Stattion in
which the father of the complainant was killed, the release
said.

In another case, N Lakshminarayana, a Sub Inspector
formerly of Kukatpally police station, Hyderabad was sentenced
to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and a fine of
Rs 5000. He had taken bribe of Rs 6000 from the complainant
for not arresting him and his parents in a case registered by
the Kukatpally police station.

He had handed over the bribe amount to Police
Constable A Srinivas, with instructions to retain with him and
to return it to him later. The court also convicted the
Constable and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment
for one year and to pay a a fine of Rs 1000.
