Andhra Pradesh CM to speak at Indo-Australian summit today

"The Chief Minister would highlight the areas where AP and Australia can work together. These include fisheries and aquaculture, mining, agriculture and food processing, healthcare and life sciences, education and tourism among others," a state government release had said here on Sunday.

The state government would focus on working with Australia in the areas of marine industry and aquaculture as the country is famous for it, it said.

"Andhra Pradesh is first in Brackish and fresh water shrimp production, second in fresh water fish production and in value of fish and prawn produced and fourth in marine fish production in the country," it said.

With the CM drawing up plans to make AP a marine processing hub, the state aims to reach 40 percent of the country's total production of high-valued fish and shell fish from the current level of 20 percent.

"He would also highlight prospects of working together on establishing fishing harbours through PPP mode, improve cold chain infrastructure, pre-processing facilities and value-added production facilities," the release said.

According to the release, AP is first in beach sands, barytes and granite, second in limestone and bauxite in the country. The state has large limestone reserves and is the largest producer of cement.

Naidu would also put forward areas of collaboration in mining, including mining and processing equipment, mine exploration and development, mineral processing and beneficiation, mining software and consultation, mine safety and communication and R and D.

The CM aims to develop the Rayalaseema region as a mineral hub. In the agriculture and food processing sector, AP is a leader in production of various crops, the release said.

It said the CM will explore opportunities in working with Australia on agri export zones and agri equipment, mega food parks in all districts, cold chain infrastructure, commercial dairy farming and dairy processing units.

"In addition, the CM will also showcase how AP plans to attract investment in the next decade, build world-class urban infrastructure facilities and chalk out the massive potential for PPP investments in the state. He will also speak about the establishment of Economic Development Board apart from the policies on anvil like industrial policy, PPP policy and sector-specific policies like textile & agro-processing, port policy and Maritime Board Act," the release said.

The keynote address at the summit will be delivered by Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas (independent charge) Dharmendra Pradhan.

Other delegates include Andrew Robb, AO MP, Minister for Trade and Investment, Government of Australia and Michael Bruce BAIRD, MP, Premier, Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Western Sydney, the release added.
