Hyderabad: Continuing its crackdown
against the liquor syndicates, the ACB has conducted searches
at different places in Vizianagaram district of Andhra
Pradesh.

The ACB officials conducted these searches on March 27
as part of the drive to expose the alleged nexus between
liquor syndicates and the excise officials, an official
release said.

During the action, it was found that out of the 202
liquor shop license holders in the district, over 103 license
holders possess white ration cards, which is given to those
who are under Below Poverty Line (BPL), ACB release said.

The searches further revealed that 33 liquor shop
license holders are petty employees or casual labourers in the
same wine shops, the release said.

It was in January this year that the ACB launched a
drive against liquor syndicates and registered 26 criminal
cases against different persons, including excise officials
after conducting searches in various districts.

All the material gathered during the investigation has
been brought before a special ACB court, the release said.
