AP bypolls: TRS takes potshots at TDP over Telanga

Hyderabad: Campaigning for the seven
assembly segments in Andhra Pradesh, where bypolls are
scheduled to be held on March 18, gathered steam, even as the
TRS targeted the TDP for its stance on Telangana.

Training his guns on TDP, TRS MLA K T Rama Rao alleged
that it was party chief N Chandrababu Naidu who was
responsible for making legislators from non-Telangana regions
to resign en masse to counter the announcement made by Centre
to form separate Telangana in 2009.

The allegation, often repeated, was part of the frequent
war of words between the TRS and TDP.

Senior TDP leader T Devender Goud and party MLA M Kishan
Reddy were among those who campaigned for the TDP nominees.

Of the seven seats where bypolls are being held, six are
in Telangana region. The bypolls have been necessitated in
five of them as the sitting MLAs quit in support of separate
Telangana, while the sitting member died in the remaining one.

In Kovur, the lone seat in non-Telangana region where
bypoll will be held, Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy campaigned for his party`s nominee.

The bypoll in Kovur has been necessitated as the sitting
TDP MLA switched loyalty and quit in support of Jagan.
