New Delhi: With the Telangana statehood
demand assuming centrestage again, Andhra Pradesh Chief
Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday met Congress chief Sonia
Gandhi and is understood to have discussed the contentious
issue.

Reddy, who arrived here yesterday, met Gandhi at her 10,
Janpath residence in the evening and the Telangana statehood
demand is believed to have come up for discussion.

The meeting comes a day after 16 of his cabinet colleagues
from the Telangana region wrote to Gandhi demanding that the
Centre take steps for the formation of a separate Telangana
state.

However, there was no official word on the meeting.
Reddy, who was scheduled to leave this evening, postponed
his visit.

Speculation was rife that he was asked to stay put in the
capital by Gandhi.
