Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister
K Rosaiah today asked officials of the Infrastructure and
Investment (I&I) Department not to entertain the proposal of
AP Aviation Corporation to buy a jet aircraft for the State
government.

Reacting to reports that appeared in the media here
today, the Chief Minister told the I&I Department officials
that there was "no necessity" to spend such huge amounts and
purchase a new aircraft, a press release from the Chief
Minister`s Office said.

The CMO release said the I&I Department officials told
the Chief Minister that there was a proposal earlier to buy an
executive jet aircraft. But it was dropped "considering the
economics and operational aspects," the release added.

Interestingly, Minister for Roads and Buildings Galla
Aruna Kumari informed the State Legislature in the Outcome
Budget of her department last month that the AP Aviation
Corporation has plans to acquire a new jet aircraft. A sum of
Rs 23 crore has also been provided in the State Budget for
2010-11 "to meet the expenditure on operation and maintenance
of the aircraft" besides hiring of helicopters from other
sources.
