AP division: YSR Congress demands early Assembly session

The MLAs earlier met CM Kiran Kumar Reddy and reiterated their demand that the Assembly be convened before the draft Bill comes before the House for its views on the issue of division of the state.

Hyderabad: A group of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLAs on Friday held a sit-in here in front of the Chief Minister`s office in the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat demanding the Legislative Assembly be convened immediately to table a resolution against division of the state.

The MLAs earlier met CM Kiran Kumar Reddy and reiterated their demand that the Assembly be convened before the draft Bill comes before the House for its views on the issue of division of the state.

Criticising Kiran for not accepting their demand to convene the Assembly immediately, the YSRCP MLAs sat in front of the block housing the CM office in protest. They also held placards with slogans in support of united Andhra.
Security personnel swung into action soon and forcibly shifted the agitating lawmakers to a nearby police station.

YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy met Governor ESL Narasimhan twice in recent past and demanded the Assembly be convened to adopt a resolution against division.

The Opposition party, which is vehemently opposing bifurcation of the state, had earlier written a letter to the Chief Minister with a similar demand.
