AP govt prepares plan to control Naxal activities in state

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) has said that the state government has prepared a plan with an estimated amount of Rs 30 crore to control the Naxalite activities in the state.

Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) has said that the state government has prepared a plan with an estimated amount of Rs 30 crore to control the Naxalite activities in the state.

"The state government has prepared a comprehensive plan with an amount of Rs 30 crore to control the Maoist activities in the state. The report has been sent to the Centre," RR Girish Kumar told reporters here last night.

Three special battalions will be formed to control Naxal activities in Karimnagar, Chittoor, Vishakhapatnam districts of Andhra Pradesh, he said.

"We have also obtained a loan of 35 crore from HUDCO to repair the police quarters in the state. A separate scheme will be launched in the state for the welfare of the home guards," Kumar said.

Inspector General Vinay Kumar, DIG (Eluru range) Mahesh Bhagwat, East Godavari District Superintendent of Police G Srinivas, District Superintendent of Police (Rajahmundry) Janaki among others had also attended the press conference.
