Hyderabad: BJP`s Andhra Pradesh unit would
organise sit-in across the state tomorrow protesting against
delay in the release of funds for scholarships and
reimbursement of fees of economically backward students.
"The state government led by Chief Minister Kiran Kumar
Reddy has failed to keep its promise and playing with the
future of students by not making payment of scholarships and
reimbursement of fees of BC, SC, ST and minority students,
BJP state party president G Kishan Reddy told reporters here.
Reddy also alleged that the state government has
diverted Rs 700 crore central funds meant for SC and ST
Protesting against government`s attitude, a mass dharna
would be organised at Indira Park here and in all district
headquarters tomorrow, he said.
Though the government had said Rs 3431 crore was needed
in the year 2010-11 for the scholarship and reimbursement of
fees of poor students, it has given administrative sanction
only for Rs 865 crore and even that amount has not yet been
released, he said.
The BJP state president demanded the state government
to release the funds immediately for the education year of
2010-11 for the benefit of 24 lakh students.
