Hyderabad: 53-year-old P Indira Reddy, a
mother of two, was declared "brain dead" following an
accident. But on Mother`s day today, her children see her
living on as her organs gave a new lease of life to several
needy persons.

Reddy was hospitalized on May 6 after she sustained head
injuries in a road accident near Lal Bahadur Nagar here.

The doctors pronounced her "brain dead" the very next
day.

Mohan Foundation, an NGO working for promotion of organ
donation, briefed the family members about how she could live
on in others by organ donation.

"They knew what organ donation is. So, they readily
agreed," Mohan Foundation, CEO, Raghuram said.

Reddy`s liver, heart valves, kidneys and eyes were
retrieved yesterday and distributed among several hospitals in
the city for donating to the needy.

"We are glad that we will be able to see her alive in the
needy persons. After all, what is the point in burning her
body with organs," Ajay Kumari Reddy, sister-in-law of Indira
Reddy, said.
