CBI questions AP minister in connection with Jaganmohan case
Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has questioned Andhra Pradesh Minister for Major Industries J Geetha Reddy in connection with alleged quid pro quo investments case against YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy about the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub (LKH) land allotment.
The central agency questioned her at her residence last night. Geetha Reddy, who had previously held the industries portfolio in Y S Rajasekhara Reddy government when land was allotted to the LKH, is among the six AP ministers who were earlier served notices by the Supreme Court.
Last year, Andhra Pradesh government cancelled 8,848 acres of land allotted to LKH which had proposed to set up a multi-sector industrial park project in Anantapur.
Hyderabad-based real estate player, the Indu Group, promoter of the project, is already under the CBI scanner for its alleged investments in former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister`s son Jaganmohan Reddy`s firms.
In February 2009, LKH had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the industries department to set up a "global knowledge hub" by providing integrated infrastructure support to a range of activities, including education clusters, science and technology parks, medical, aerospace as well as infotech parks.
Last year in March, the Supreme Court had issued notices to six Andhra Pradesh ministers and eight IAS officers who had been accused of passing illegal orders to favour Jagan when his father was Chief Minister.
Three of the ministers Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, Dharmana Prasad Rao and Sabitha Indra Reddy, who have been accused in charge sheets filed in the case against Jagan and others, have already resigned, while Mopidevi, who was arrested by CBI last year, is now under judicial custody.
The case relates to alleged investments made by industrialists and individual investors in Jagan`s firms for quid pro quo government favours.
