Tirupati: Chief Justice of India Justice HL Dattu and his family members offered prayers at the famous hill shrine Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala near here on Tuesday.

Justice Dattu and his family members reached here yesterday after trekking the 10-km long stairway leading to the ancient hill shrine, temple sources told a news agency here.

It took three hours for the Chief Justice to reach Tirumala, the abode of the Lord, from the foot of the hill called Alipiri.

After an overnight halt on the hills, he along with family members offered prayers at the temple this morning.

The Chief Justice was presented with a sacred silk cloth and prasadams by management of the shrine, they said, adding, he would be leaving from here tomorrow.
