CM orders probe into murder of forest officials in Tirupati

Hyderabad: Expressing shock over the death of two forest personnel in an attack on them by red sanders smugglers in the Tirupati forest, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday directed officials to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
Condoling the death of the two personnel, he directed the officials to provide best medical treatment to those injured in the incident, an official release said.

The Chief Minister directed the principal conservator of forests to rush to the spot and submit a report after inquiring into the incident, it said.

He also asked the officials to take stringent action against the offenders.

Two forest department personnel were killed and some others sustained injuries when they were attacked by red sanders smuggling gangs in the Seshachalam forest at Tirupati today.

Meanwhile, State Forest Minister?S Vijayarama Raju has condemned the attack and directed the officials to speak to Chitoor district police officials to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

Forest Department would soon provide arms to the forest personnel for their self defence, an official release said.

The State Forest Range Officers Association has also condemned the incident.
