CM Reddy to meet PM, seek financial aid for rain-hit Andhra

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is likely to call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here on Saturday to seek financial aid for his rain-hit state.

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is likely to call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here on Saturday to seek financial aid for his rain-hit state.

Reports said Reddy will seek a financial package to compensate for the widespread damage caused to crops by recent torrential rains.

Rains last month are believed to have damaged 30 percent of the standing crops. In terms of area, crops in more than 12 lakh hectares were damaged, including cotton and paddy crops.
Over 50 people are reported to have lost their lives in the state in rains.
