‘Don`t take hasty steps on Telangana’

Ghulam Nabi Azad asked Congress legislators to observe restraint and not take hasty steps on the contentious Telangana issue.

Hyderabad: Union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday asked Congress legislators to observe restraint and not
take hasty steps on the contentious Telangana issue in the
wake of their decision to resign from their posts en masse on
if the Centre failed to take a favourable decision over the
creation of a separate state.

"Telangana is a complex issue and the Centre has to
hold consultations with all political parties. Telangana issue
is also linked to other states and as such everyone should
observe restraint," Azad told reporters during his visit to
the city.

The health minister, who attended a meeting of Dalit
Christians organised by Congress MP JD Seelam at the Jubilee
Hall here, was reacting to the threat issued by Congress
ministers, MPs, MLCs and MLAs from Telangana earlier in the
day that they would quit en masse on July 4 for the cause of a
separate state.
