Eight officers arrested in Andhra Pradesh in bribery cases

Eight state government employees and a private auditor have been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in separate bribery cases in Andhra Pradesh.

and a private auditor have been arrested by the
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in separate bribery cases in
Andhra Pradesh.

A Commercial Tax Officer and an Industrial Promotion
Office were among those arrested by ACB.
In Nizamabad district, J Prabhakar, Commercial Tax
Officer (Intelligence), along with K Lingam, a senior
assistant in the CT department, his assistant T Rajeshwar, and
P Srinivas -- a private auditor, were arrested after they were
trapped by the sleuths of ACB when Prabhakar accepted Rs 2.5
lakh as bribe from the complainant for doing an official
favour, last night.
The trio -- K Lingam, T Rajeshwar and Srinivas -- helped
him in negotiating the bribe amount, ACB said.

In another bribery case, G Vijayasri, an Industrial
Promotion Officer, was arrested today when she took a bribe of
Rs 4,000 to process the file for releasing investment subsidy
due to the complainant.

She works in the office of District Industries Centre at
Sangareddy in Medak district.

Besides, Four village-revenue officers were caught red-
handed in separate bribery cases in the districts of Prakasam
and Kurnool today, ACB said.
