Elections to Andhra Pradesh’s legislative council announced

As per the schedule, the notification for the elections would be issued on February 25.



Hyderabad: The Election Commission on Friday announced the schedule for holding biennial elections to 10 Local Authorities` Constituencies of the Andhra Pradesh
Legislative Council, the polling for which would be held on March 21.

The 10 Local Authorities’ Constituencies are Anantapur, Kadapa, Nellore, West Godavari-2, East Godavari, Srikakulam, Srikakulam, Chittoor, Kurnool and Hyderabad.

As per the schedule, the notification for the elections would be issued on February 25, while the last date for filing nominations would be March 04. The nominations will be scrutinised on March 05 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 07.

Polling would take place on March 21 and votes would be counted on March 23. The hours of polling are 8 am to 4 pm.

As per the model code of conduct for the polls, no policy should be initiated by the government related to the constituents of the election and no official of any rank dealing with election-related work of the districts where elections are being held shall be called for any meeting.
