Exams for SI posts are under fresh recruitment process: police

Andhra Pradesh police department on Wedesday clarified that the exams for the posts of SIs is not under a fresh recruitment process.

Hyderabad: Even as pro-Telangana students
and members of Osmania University Students JAC continued their
protests over the `Free Zone` issue, Andhra Pradesh police
department on Wedesday clarified that the exams for the posts of SIs is not under a fresh recruitment process.

"The recruitment exams for the Sub-Inspectors (SIs) posts
scheduled next month is not a fresh recruitment, but it was
notified in December 2008. It is not going to affect the job
opportunities of any unemployed persons," a release from the
office of State Director General of Police said.

The recruitment tests is only a completion of process,
which was half done and those who had earlier qualified in the
physical test will appear for the written test now.

Because of the present agitation, the candidates who were
already selected in the physical test (about 18,300 both from
Andhra and Telangana regions) will be adversely affected, the
release said.

The present attempt of the police department for
completing the SIs recruitment will ensure that all the 402
posts of civil SIs and 43 posts of armed reserve SIs posts
which were announced for the Zone-VI will be filled up and the
candidates from Hyderabad will be eligible for the 70 per cent
quota with the Zone-VI and for 30 per cent quota through out
the state including Hyderabad, the release said.

"The police department is pursuing the recruitment
process only to do justice to the candidates (from both Andhra
and Telangana areas) who have qualified in the physical test
and who are waiting to write the written test. The department
is prepared to clarify to any agitating group or person about
the entire recruitment process of SIs," it added.

Telangana leaders of various political parties and
Osmania University Students JAC have been demanding to
postpone the written exams for SIs posts in Hyderabad city
until the entire Zone-VI issue is resolved and the
Presidential Order treating Hyderabad as `Free Zone` is
amended as per resolution passed by the State Assembly.

The pro-Telangana students groups also want Hyderabad,
which is a `Free Zone` now a part of Zone-VI that comprises
other Telangana districts in addition to the demands to start
recruitment for SI posts only after deletion of 14 (F) clause
in the Presidential Order to prevent injustice to Telangana
candidates.
