Hyderabad: Two passengers lost their lives and another was injured in a fight over seats in a general coach of Puri-Tirupati Express in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh this evening, Government Railway Police (GRP) said.

A verbal duel erupted between three passengers over a seat on the train. The altercation turned nasty when one of them allegedly pushed the other two, a father-son duo, off the train between the Gudur and Tirupati stations, a senior GRP officer said based on a preliminary probe into the matter.

Of the above duo, who were admitted in hospital, the father, identified as one Rahman, died during treatment, the GRP official said, adding that the son is still unconscious.

The man who pushed the father-son duo himself lost his life when he had a fatal fall while trying to get down from the train, GRP said, adding that the identity of this person was still to be ascertained.

"When co-passengers cornered the person for having pushed the father-son duo off the train, he got nervous and suddenly tried to get down from the train.
However, he suffered a fatal fall in the process," the GRP officer said.
Further inquiries are on in the matter, GRP added.
