Hyderabad: Swine flu seems to be making a
comeback in Andhra Pradesh with one fresh case of the disease
reported in the state capital taking the number of infected
persons to four so far this year, health officials said on Saturday.
A 43-year-old person from Nizamabad district tested
positive for swine flu yesterday and was admitted to ICU of
Government General and Chest Hospital at Erragadda here, they
said.
"The patient has been kept on ventilator and his
condition is critical. He is under observation for 48 hours,"
chief coordinator of swine flu cell at the Chest Hospital K
Subhakar said.
"Swine flu has so far claimed two lives in Andhra Pradesh
this year, while four cases including the present one have
tested positive for the flu virus," he said.
As many as 786 persons tested positive for H1N1 virus
last year, while 53 deaths were reported due to swine flu in
the state, health officials said.
The first swine flu case in the country was reported from
Hyderabad on May 16 last year.
