Hyderabad: Terror struck Hyderabad once again. At around seven in the evening twin bomb blasts rocked the city's Dilsukh Nagar area on Thursday with at least twelve people feared dead in the explosions.

The blasts triggered by Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) tied to two bicyles took place in the peak hour at two sites 100 metres apart outside a roadside eatery near Konark and Venkatadiri theatres in the area located on the Hyderabad-Vijaywada national highway in Cyberabad police limits.

State DGP Dinesh Reddy said it was "definitely the handiwork of a terrorist network." Reddy said IEDs were used in the attack.

Union Home Secretary RK Singh said the near two simultaneous very powerful blasts indicate that it was a "terror attack".

The blasts happened simultaneously at around 7 pm.

The first blast occurred at 7:01 pm. The second blast happened at 7:06 pm.

A third bomb was found unexploded near a foot bridge.

The twin blasts, described as dastardly by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who announced a Rs two lakh exgratia to the kin of each of the victims, triggered a stampede-like situation with people trying to scamper for safety as it left a bloody trail.

The scene wore a gory look with severed body parts lying around. Footwear and various other objects were also seen indicating the desperation of the victims and the injured to flee the spot.

The Dilsukh Nagar area is thickly populated and traffic jams are routine in the evenings with officegoers and students rushing home. Large numbers of people wait at the numerous bus shelters, eateries and shops in the area.

More than 80 people have have been reported to be injured in the blasts and have been rushed to the nearby hospital. Most of the injured have been taken to Osmania and Yashoda hospital.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy visited the spot to take stock of the situation and appealed for calm. Speaking to reporters he said, "We will make sure that those behind the blasts are punished. This is an act of cowardice. Whoever has died, from the state government's side, six lakhs will be given."

Around two days back an alert had been sounded by the intelligence agencies to couple of states of impending blasts at various places. The matter had been discussed at the Union Cabinet's meet.

The state has been put on high alert. Alert has been sounded in the whole nation including Maharashtra, Karnataka and Delhi.

Talking to reporters in the national capital Union Home Minsiter Sushilkumar Shinde said that he had apprised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of the blasts in Hyderabad. However, he said, "Cannot speculate on the perpetrators of the blast as of now."

The city of Hyderabad was rocked by blasts last in 2007 in which 42 people were dead.

The helpline number given by the administration is 040-27854771.

yesterday was their time ,tomorrow might be ours. Terrorist can shower terror any time cause we are not yet ready for it. Unless the sense of oneness/nationalism strikes we cannot deal with such inhuman activities. Our defense and intelligence team are doing their best but even we need to do our duty.

GOPAL KULKARNI - NEW DELHI
Latest blasts are not just failure of intelligence report but the failure of entire system of Indian administration for innumerable times. That goes to show that the Indian governance system has become so rotten that it is incapable of doing anything no matter what intelligence or others say. Unless and until India tightens its entire secuirty machinery from top to bottom and makes use of this machinery to send strong signals to terrorists that India is not a soft target, attacks on Indian soil will continue to take place, as we have been witnessing for several years now. Our impotent Ministers and political leaders issuing statements, putting up brave faces on the day of attacks and forgetting everything the next day, has become such a pedestrine spectacle that they have ceased to make any sense and nobody takes them seriously. Indian political leadership has not only to have strong systems in place but all that should be visible to the whole world, only then people thinking of terrorist attacks will think twice before carrying out their inhuman plans. Till then helpless Indians will continue to suffer.

In India, the terrorism monopoly is not rest with Muslims alone.Militant Hindu goons Sangh Parivar have also used this road for the last 10 years. Several of them have been indicted and charged for such crimes too. So it is always better to wait and watch where the dirty water is flowing.

In a big city like Hydrabad, how does a plausible terror-attack warning translates or heeded eitehr at the State level or at the city level? What procedure do they follow apart from an ad-hoc arbitrary set of search and response? Is there any specific procedure they could adhere to?

They say investigation ``has already started`` and are appealing for ``calm``, how can people be calm knowing that all the authorities knew of the impending blasts and did nothing to evacuate or eliminate the threat? For the PM there are 3 helicopters and 40 cars that following/surround him when he travels, but for the citizens, there is zero protection even when the intelligence is there. If they knew bomb blasts were going to happen, they should have evacuated the suspected areas and put out extra investigation teams BEFORE the blasts, not AFTER!

The first statment comes from our politician/leaders after any bomb blast or similar incident is the announcement of ex-gratia. and later they will condemn it, and claim to punish the culprits. Then their job finishes. They never understood the value of a human being. When a bomb will blast under their ass, they will know what is 2 lac and what is bomb blast.

Ajay kumar - Hyderabad.
I was just in tears the moment i thought about the incident, may be one of the son said to her mother`` i would return in minutes and never returns back. May be a friend from one of the college just said ``Good Bye`` and would never see again. May be a brother was waiting pick up his sister and That waiting never last. may be a student just said his teacher ``see you again`` and lost it permanently.
