Incentive for Panchayats in AP which elect members unanimously

The Andhra Pradesh Government on Wednesday released Rs 5.15 crore for paying an incentive to Panchayats which have elected their committee members unanimously.

on Wednesday released Rs 5.15 crore for paying an incentive to
Panchayats which have elected their committee members
unanimously.

The government had paid Rs five lakh to villages with a
population less than 15,000 and Rs 15 lakh for villages
over 15,000 population for electing their panchayat committees
unanimously in the 2006 elections.

As many as 2924 villages had benefited and an amount of
Rs 146.50 crore was released for the purpose, Panchayat Raj
minister B Satyanarayana said.

However, 101 villages which unanimously elected their
panchayat committees in elections held after 2006 have not
received any funds as incentive, he said.

The Rs 5.15 crore is being released to give an incentive
to the 101 villages in 11 districts Satyanarayana added.
