Hyderabad: Lok Satta Party President and MLA
N Jayaprakash Narayan on Thursday said he did not consider the
attack on him by TRS MLAs in assembly premises as a personal
attack but an assault on democracy.

"I do not view it as a personal attack on me but an
assault on democracy itself," he told reporters here.
The TRS MLAs allegedly beat up Jayaprakash Narayan and
Congress MLC Paladugu Venkata Rao in the premises of the
Andhra Pradesh Assembly today.

The incident occurred after the TRS MLAs tried to
manhandle Governor E S L Narasimhan inside the House during
his address to the joint sitting of both the houses on the
opening day of the Budget Session.

Disclosing that he did not lodge a complaint against
anybody for the attack, Narayan said he believed that the
"Chair is competent enough" to take all steps to preserve
democracy and ensure smooth conduct of the House.

He appealed to the people not to react violently.
Stating that some people seemed to be wishing to silence
the voice of those who enjoyed credibility because they always
spoke facts, Narayan said, "Facts do not go... whether there
is Jayaprakash Narayan or no Jayaprakash Narayan. Dharma and
justice will always triumph."

Narayan called on Paladugu Venkat Rao, who was admitted
to the hospital due to high blood pressure among other things
in the aftermath of the incident.
