JAC to organise train blockades in Telangana on March 1

Telangana political JAC announced complete train blockades in the region on March 1.

Hyderabad: Mounting pressure on the Centre
for formation of separate Telangana state, the Telangana
political Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Saturday announced
complete train blockades in the region on March 1.

"It will be done in an unprecedented manner. We appeal to
the people to come to the railway tracks on March 1 to send
across a message to the Centre about formation of Telangana,"
JAC Convener M Kodandaram told reporters here today.

The rail network in Telangana is significant because many
south-bound trains from northern India pass through the
region.

Kodandaram was speaking after a meeting with TRS
president K Chandrasekhar Rao and other party leaders.

The TRS president held a meeting with party leaders this
evening. The TRS members` efforts to raise the Telangana
demand in Lok Sabha in the last few days and the future course
of action was discussed at the meeting, party sources said.

The idea of the TRS leaders quitting their posts to mount
pressure on ruling Congress and opposition TDP leaders was
also discussed, the sources claimed.

The government employees in Telangana, who have been
holding a non-cooperation agitation for the last one week,
have already threatened to start an indefinite strike from
March 5 if the Centre failed to come out with a statement on
formation of separate state.
