Hyderabad: The Vice chairman of Jagati Publications Pvt Ltd (JPPL) V Vijay Sai Reddy, arrested by CBI in connection with alleged disproportionate assets case of Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, on Thursday moved a local court seeking special class prisoner status.

Vijay Sai, presently under the CBI custody and lodged at the Chanchalguda Central Prison here, filed a petition in this regard through his counsel in the Special Court for CBI cases and sought the necessary direction to the jail authorities.

He stated in his petition stated that he is entitled for the status of a special class undertrial prisoner under the AP Prison Rules as he is highly educated and also an Income Tax assesse having paid an income tax of over Rs 5 lakh and habituated to superior mode of living.

The court posted the matter for further hearing to January 10.

Meanwhile, the CBI which arrested Vijay Sai on Monday began his questioning from today after the court yesterday sent him in the central agency's custody till January 9.

The court had directed the CBI to interrogate him between 10 am and 5 pm daily till January 9 and leave him in Chanchalguda central jail after the questioning. He was earlier remanded in judicial custody till January 17.

The CBI had yesterday informed the court that Vijay Sai, also the financial advisor of Jagan, was kingpin behind the conspiracy in accommodating the ill-gotten money by floating fictitious firms.

The CBI in its FIR against Jaganmohan Reddy and 73 others including Vijay Sai alleged that various investors who are beneficiaries of public properties, licences among others invested in the companies promoted by Jagan at very high premiums as a quid-pro-quo to the favours doled out by the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister late YS Rajasekhar Reddy under his son's (Jagan's) influence.
