Hyderabad: Former Congress MP, YS Jagan
Mohan Reddy on Monday continued his week-long fast for release of
funds for tuition fees reimbursement and his supporters
threatened to "lay siege" to Andhra Pradesh Assembly if the
Government failed to release funds by February 24.

Some of the student leaders, who visited Jagan at
Indira Park, where he has been fasting since February 18, said
they would lay siege to the Assembly if the Congress
Government failed to release funds by February 24.

Congress MLA, Konda Surekha, a die-hard loyalist of
Jagan, appeared to have endorsed the student leaders who said
they will "gherao" the Assembly, which is in session.

"All students in Andhra Pradesh should unite and rise
like a tidal wave. This Government should wash away in it. The
students who are sitting here have said they will lay siege to
the Assembly if the Government failed to release funds by the
morning of February 24", she said. Jagan`s fast is supposed to
end by 5 pm on February 24.

MLC, Jupudi Prabhakara Rao, another loyalist of Jagan,
criticised the Government for not sending any representative
to meet the former Kadapa MP. Jagan is weak due to the fast
and was suffering from low blood pressure, he said.

Meanwhile, over 10 MLAs, including Surekha, Shobha
Nagireddy, Jayasudha, Srikant Reddy, met Jagan.

The dues in school fees reimbursement are to the tune
of Rs 3,400 crore. The Government has agreed to release Rs
1,000 crore. Professional colleges have threatened to shut down
from February 24th if the Government failed to release at least
50 per cent of the pending funds.
