Warangal: An army jawan died and three others sustained burn injuries, one of them seriously, due to electrocution at Pendyal railway station in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

The incident occurred when a special train with army jawans that was on its way to Rajasthan had stopped at the station, railway police said.

When the train reached Pendyal station, a jawan, identified as Afiz Ahmed (36), climbed a luggage coach to check a vehicle loaded on it. But accidentally, he touched a high tension wire and died on the spot, they said.

On hearing the cries, his colleagues came for his rescue but they too sustained burn injuries.

The deceased and another jawan, identified as Arshad who was seriously injured, hailed from Jammu and Kashmir, they said, adding two more jawans sustained minor injuries.
