Machilipatnam: A prisoner at Andhra Pradesh's Kaddapa district jail who had escaped from custody of police while being taken from Anantapur to Kadapa jail, has been arrested, police said Tuesday.

A murder convict, M V Sunilkumar alias Sunil who was produced before the Anantapur court on December 11, escaped from police custody while enroute to Kadapa jail. He was arrested last night here under Inaguduru police station limits, Krishna district Superintendent of Police P G Vijayakumar said.

Sunil faces charges in two murder, 10 kidnap, two cheating and one red-sandal smuggling cases.

In Machilipatnam, Sunil met one Rajesh who is a friend of his jail inmate Vemula Veeraswamy. Sunil was nabbed by police while he and Rajesh were trying to threaten some local traders and demanded money.
