Hyderabad: Describing the Andhra Pradesh
government`s offer of talks to resolve the stir by Telangana
advocates seeking 42 per cent share in judiciary as a drama,
TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao today said the agitation for
quota would be intensified if the "justified" demand of the
lawyers is not accepted.

"The Advocate General gave an assurance that the whole
issue would be settled in 10 days and that the due share of
Telangana advocates would be provided. But that is not
implemented. They appoint committees whenever Telangana is
involved. This committee is a duplicate committee (of
ministers)," he told reporters.

Rao was speaking after meeting three advocates who were
on fast-unto-death at the state High Court here.

"No committee is required to solve this issue. This issue
is about appointment of 25 lawyers. It needs only 30 minutes
to settle the issue. But ministers shamelessly say that they
have nothing to do with the assurance given by the Advocate
General," he said.

Threatening that the advocates` agitation would be
intensified from tomorrow with the support of Telangana
students and employees, he demanded that Chief Minister K
Rosaiah intervene in the matter and settle the issue
immediately.

"Thousands of lawyers in Telangana are on the streets.
This agitation is going to be intensified from tomorrow. Chief
Minister should intervene immediately and resolve the issue.
TRS, Telangana students, Telangana employees` unions would
support the advocates till they achieve success," the TRS
president said.

Advocates of the state High Court here have been holding
protests demanding that the government provide 42 per cent
jobs for various posts in the judiciary.

The state government has constituted a committee with
three ministers to talk to the agitated lawyers and settle the
issue. The committee has made a fresh appeal to the lawyers to
come for talks to resolve the issue as the protesters did not
agree to hold a dialogue.
