Mecca Masjid blast accused file bail plea

Hyderabad: The two accused in the 2007 Mecca
Masjid bomb blast case on Wednesday moved a local court seeking bail.

The petitioners Devendra Gupta and Lokesh Sharma, who are
presently under judicial custody here, filed a bail petition
through their counsel before the XIV Additional Chief
Metropolitan Magistrate Court here.

Gupta and Sharma are among the five persons who have been
named as accused in the chargesheet filed by the Rajasthan ATS
in the 2007 Ajmer blast case, last month.

A cell phone-triggered pipe bomb placed inside the Mecca
Masjid here during Friday prayers on May 18, 2007 had claimed
9 lives. 5 people were killed in police firing in the
clashes that erupted after the blast.

CBI, which is probing the Mecca Masjid blast, had
registered a case on June 9, 2007 under various sections of
the IPC and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
