No Govt opinion on bifurcation to Srikrishna panel: Rosaiah

The Andhra Pradesh government will only furnish necessary data to the five-member Srikrishna Committee and not give its opinion on the state bifurcation issue.

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government
will only furnish necessary data to the five-member Srikrishna
Committee and not give its opinion on the state bifurcation
issue.

"The Committee (appointed by the Centre to study the
situation in the state) has only sought data related to
development works in the state since 1956 and accordingly I
have directed Chief Secretary S V Prasad to provide whatever
information in this regard is required. But as a government we
will not give any opinion on the bifurcation issue," Chief
Minister K Rosaiah told newsmen in an informal chat in the
Assembly today.

He said the state government has appointed senior IAS
officer Rajiv Sharma as the nodal officer to coordinate with
the Srikrishna Committee and provide all required support on
behalf of the government.

All the five members of the Committee, including
Chairman Justice B N Srikrishna, will make their maiden visit
to Hyderabad tomorrow and stay till Friday.

Rosaiah said the demand for creation of a new state
was a very sensitive issue which the state government could
not resolve. "The government of India has initiated a process
to find a solution to this issue and it is rapidly moving
ahead on this.
