New Delhi: Lawmakers from non-Telangana
regions in Andhra Pradesh today met Congress General Secretary
Ghulam Nabi Azad and explained the rationale behind their
demand that the Centre should not divide the state.
A delegation of over 20 state ministers, MPs, MLAs and
MLCs met Azad here this evening and made a powerpoint
presentation on why a separate Telangana state should not be
created.

The presentation said the people from rest of Andhra
Pradesh also have equal rights over capital Hyderabad which is
the bone of contention between pro and anti Telangana
protagonists.

The leaders from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions
told Azad that they will not accept bifurcation of Andhra
Pradesh.

Senior leader and former minister G Venkat Reddy told
reporters after the meeting that they expressed their views on
the Telangana statehood demand to Azad.
He said though they were opposed to repealing of section
14 F of a 1975 Presidential order that gives preference to
people from Telangana for jobs in Hyderabad, they would abide
by the Central government`s decision.

The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs had yesterday
taken the decision to repeal the order.
