One arrested in connection with revolver misfiring incident

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravi Prakash told reporters here today that one Sudarshan Ravi Datta (29) who was allegedly involved in a revolver misfiring incident, at Pandit Nehru bus station on Monday night, was arrested here Tuesday.

A case has been filed against Ravi Datta under Sections 308 of the Indian Penal Code as well as Section 25 (1)(b)(a) and Section 27(1) of the Arms Act.

He revealed that after his failure in a love affair with a woman, Datta purchased a revolver from a Bihar town for Rs 50,000 and returned to his native place Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada city a few days ago.
On Monday, he went to Guntur to allegedly kill the husband of his former girlfriend but failed. While returning, he went to the Vijayawada bus station toilet, where his revolver misfired and injured one Venkataramana, a passenger from Yeleswaram in East Godavari district.

The police took Ravi Datta into custody immediately after the incident at the bus station and seized the revolver as well as six bullets, two magazines and a fragment of the fired bullet.
