Hyderabad: Under "pressure" from pro-Telangana student organisations, the Osmania University (OU) here has decided to postpone examinations of some of the post-graduate courses indefinitely and to commence next semester classes of such courses from December 22.
The Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee (OUSJAC) has been demanding postponement of the exams till the cases booked against students during the Telangana agitation were withdrawn.
"In view of the prevailing situation and with a view to save the academic year and safeguard the long term interests of the students, it has been decided to commence classes for second and fourth semester of MA/MSc/MCom/MPEd courses at campus, constituent and affiliated collages of Osmania University from December 22," OU authorities said.
Accordingly MA/MSc/MCom/MPEd, I and III Semester examinations are postponed. The revised dates will be announced later, they said, adding "Now students of these courses can attend classes for next semester. The exams of these courses will be conducted later."
The exams which were originally scheduled to start from December 8, were postponed to December 18 and were again postponed following protests by OUSJAC activists who tried to gherao the OU Vice-Chancellor T Tirupati Rao on Friday last.
The OU authorities, however, said that all other ongoing examinations of Osmania University like MCA/MBA/Engineering will continue as per schedule.
"There is no change in the schedule of LLM I semester and LLB (5YDC)III, V and VII semesters and LLB (3YDC) III and V semesters exams commencing from December 20 at PG College of Law, and other affiliated Law Colleges of Osmania University," they said.
