Prime Minister Manmohan Singh`s
scheduled visit to Andhra Pradesh on July 9 and 10 has been
"No reason has been given for the cancellation of the
Prime Minister’s trip," a senior official in the CMO said.
As per the original schedule, the Prime Minister was
supposed to arrive in the temple-town Tirupati at 8 pm on July
9 and proceed straight to Tirumala Hills to worship Lord
After an overnight stay on the Tirumala Hills, Singh was
scheduled to fly to Mannavaram village under Srikalahasthi
mandal and lay the foundation stone of the Rs 6,000 crore
power plants equipment manufacturing project being set up as a
joint venture by NTPC-BHEL.
The Prime Minister was also supposed to lay the
foundation stone for the new Tirupati International Airport at
Renigunta and address a public meeting.
It was the fourth time in the past one year that the
Prime Minister`s trip to Andhra Pradesh has been cancelled.
