Police, naxal face-off in Warangal

Warangal: A special police party had a
face-off with the Naxals at the forest area near Ponagadla
village at Kothaguda mandal here on Thursday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off that the outlaws belonging to the
Praja Prathigatana group were holding a meeting the forest,
the police team reached the spot and asked the Naxals to
surrender.

However, a Naxal hurled a bomb at the police party and in
retaliation police opened fire, they said adding that the
outlaws managed to flee from the scene.

No causalities were reported and search operations are
continuing in the area, police said.
