Police officer arrested for sending abusive text messages

A special police officer was on Thursday arrested for allegedly sending abusive text messages to a member of the child welfare committee of Ranga Reddy district.

Hyderabad: A special police officer was on Thursday arrested for allegedly sending abusive text messages to a member of the child welfare committee of Ranga Reddy district.

Cyber Crime Police of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate arrested Arun Kumar Tyagi, a special police officer with the Armed Reserve Force Headquarters of Hyderabad City Police, today.

The chairperson of child welfare committee of Ranga Reddy district of Telangana had filed a complaint against him.

Tyagi allegedly sent abusive SMSes on September 28 to one of the members of CWC and made phone calls. Earlier, the committee had passed an order giving the custody of Tyagi's minor children to his father.

Tyagi, who was earlier with the Indian Army, was accused of abusing his children, and his father had approached the CWC.

Tyagi has been remanded in judicial custody.
