Hyderabad: A Sub-Inspector attached to Asif Nagar police station was on Monday suspended for allegedly maintaining an illicit relationship with a woman while the SHO has been transferred, sources said on Monday.

SI Mohammed Ishaq allegedly has been in relationship with a woman and last night had again visited her at Jirra locality even as locals objected, they said.

Tension prevailed in the area after residents argued and later "quarrelled" with the officer over the matter, sources said.

Ishaq was later taken to Asif Nagar police station and when Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan learnt about the incident he asked the ACP, Asif Nagar Division, to inquire into the matter and based on the report and prima facie evidence over the cop's alleged illicit affair with the woman, Khan today placed him under suspension.

The top cop also ordered transfer of the Station House Officer (SHO), identified as Javed, for alleged dereliction of duty, sources said.
