Police register case against YSR kin, four others

Police registered a case against brother-in- law of late CM YSR Reddy & his 4 other partners in a fertiliser plant for their involvement in illegal transportation of fertilisers.

Andhra Pradesh: Police on Friday registered a case against Kadapa Mayor P Ravindranath Reddy, brother-in- law of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, and his four other partners in a fertiliser plant for their alleged involvement in illegal transportation of fertilisers.

Ravindranath Reddy and others were booked under IPC section 420 (cheating) and relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act, Circle Inspector Venkatadri said.
Police had caught six lorries, with 102 tons of fertilisers worth Rs 8.21 lakh, at Alankanupalli near here on Tuesday last, while they were being allegedly transported
illegally to Anantapur district.
The consignment was being transported from Sri Balaji Agri Fertiliser factory, owned by Ravindranath Reddy and four others, without proper bills, they had said. Police had registered a case and also arrested six lorry drivers and two others on Tuesday. Police said the bills produced by the drivers did not tally with the fertilisers loaded in the lorries.
Venkatadri said police and vigilance officials raided the factory and seized records yesterday. He claimed to have collected sufficient evidence against the factory management.
The accused, including the Mayor, were not available for comment.
