Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday stressed on the need for objective and balanced reporting along with accountability and extended greetings to mediapersons on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday stressed on the need for objective and balanced reporting along with accountability and extended greetings to mediapersons on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day.

"Given the fast-changing technological landscape we are in, reporting has changed due to the advent of digital communication," an official release quoting him said.

"This calls for self-introspection and reflection on part of media organisations. The need of the hour is objective and balanced reporting coupled with accountability," he said while reflecting on the need for quality journalism.

Acknowledging the precarious situations mediapersons face on the job, Naidu said journalists put their lives at risk to get stories.

"You do the difficult work of telling some of the most harrowing stories on earth. Your coverage can move the hands of Presidents and Prime Ministers, and can call the world's attention to the most pressing humanitarian issues," he said.

"Your stories can also put a state and a city on a global platform. And, I believe you will do that in highlighting the growth story of 'Sunrise Andhra Pradesh'," Naidu added.
