Congress leaders from Andhra-Rayalaseema regions claimed that their `save Andhra Pradesh rally` was a "huge success".

Hyderabad: Claiming that their `save Andhra Pradesh rally` was a "huge success", Congress leaders from Andhra-Rayalaseema regions on Saturday said they would soon organise another such meeting in Secunderabad.

The rally held here today came as a much-needed breather for the leaders as they have been under fire from people of Seemandhra region ever since the Central Working Committee (CWC) adopted a resolution on July 30 to split the state.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, along with a few ministers, MPs and MLAs, remained closeted in his camp office this afternoon and closely monitored the event.

State ministers Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy, T G Venkatesh, Erasu Pratap Reddy, P Viswaroop, Pitani Satyanarayana, MPs S P Y Reddy, Lagadapati Rajagopal, MLA J C Diwakar Reddy and a few others were present.

"The AP NGOs rally was a huge success and we will soon organise another public meeting with lakhs of people in Secunderabad in support of united AP," Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao said.

He claimed Congress was "re-thinking" on the division issue, saying an announcement in this regard is expected upon Sonia Gandhi`s return from the US.

State Infrastructure Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao claimed that the success of `Save Andhra Pradesh` rally "clearly established" how strong the feeling for a unified state was among people.

"The Centre should take note of this and withdraw the decision to divide AP," he said.
