Ramdev wants Centre to expedite formation of Telangana

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has said that the Centre should "immediately" come out with a "clear view" over Telangana and not have any objections in granting separate statehood to the region.

Warangal: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has said that the Centre should "immediately" come out with a "clear view" over Telangana and not have any objections in
granting separate statehood to the region.

"Pure Telangana me naye Bharat ke nirman ke saath
saath ek naye Telangana ke nirman ki awaz uth rahi hain", (A
voice for creation of Telangana besides new India is getting
louder in the region), said Ramdev at a Yoga camp here.

He said the government should immediately take a clear
decision on the issue adding that the Centre should not have
any objections for carving out Telangana as it was an
independent state earlier.

"I feel that in the name of Telangana there should not
be any more violence and struggle in the society", the Yoga
guru said.

Ramdev said he favoured smaller states for the sake of
administrative convenience and faster development.

He expressed concern on the issue of rising corruption
and black money in the country adding that people of the
region always wanted a separate Telangana state.

Haridwar-based Baba Ramdev, who is planning to float a
political party, had said in Visakhapatnam last week that he
would finalise name of the party after June this year.

He has been touring Andhra Pradesh this month as part
of his yoga camps.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had
last month said his government would abide by the decision of
the Centre on the Telangana issue.
