Hyderabad: Expressing displeasure over Telangana Joint Action Committee`s (TJAC) decision to extend support to the TRS in Parkal assembly constituency, BJP state unit today urged the party to reconsider the move.
TJAC, which fights for the cause of separate Telangana state, yesterday announced its decision to support Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidate in Parkal assembly constituency, despite opposition by the BJP.
"It was a unilateral decision of TJAC, led by chairman M Kodandaram and the decision was taken under duress of TRS for selfish gains and we were not even informed about the decision, though our party was also an alliance of it," state BJP president G Kishan Reddy told reporters here.
Terming the decision as "hasty and unfortunate", Reddy urged students, intellectuals and NGOs of TJAC to have self-introspection and extend support to BJP, which, he said was committed for separate statehood for Telangana region.
He expressed confidence that the party would win Parkal seat, which is going to by-poll along with 17 other seats and a Lok sabha seat in the state on June 12.
Out of 18 assembly seats, the party is in the fray for 11 seats and extending support to an independent candidate in Ramachandrapuram assembly constituency in East Godavari district, he said.
The party would intensify its election campaign from June one, in which, national leaders would participate and he will be camping in Parkal assembly constituency, Reddy said.
