Rein in errant T’gana Cong leaders: Kiran to Azad

AP CM N Kiran Reddy is understood to have on Sunday asked AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad to rein in errant Congress leaders from Telangana.

Vijayawada: With the ongoing agitation for
Telangana continuing unabated, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N
Kiran Kumar Reddy is understood to have on Sunday asked AICC
general secretary and in-charge of AP affairs, Ghulam Nabi Azad to rein in errant Congress leaders from that region.

"They are doing a lot of damage to party and government
through their comments and actions," informed sources quoted
the chief minister as saying.

The chief minister is also said to have briefed Azad,
onboard their flight from Hyderabad to Vijayawada today, about
the impact of the indefinite general strike by government
employees on the state`s economy.
Azad was accompanied by Kiran, state Congress president
Botsa Satyanarayana and a few CM`s aides.

"It is the Telangana people who are suffering because of
the actions of a few. We are spending Rs 15 crore per day to
purchase power alone," the chief minister reportedly said.

Even IT hubs Bengaluru and Pune that draw electricity
from the state were also affected due to severe short supply
of power generation, he pointed out.
Reddy also informed Azad that the MGNREG programme was
affected by the ongoing strike, they said.

"We are conscious of the ground situation here and are
seriously working on a solution to the impasse. You renew you
efforts for a dialogue with employees and request them to
resume work," Azad is said to have told Kiran.

Azad enquired about the resignation of Infrastructure
Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from the cabinet and the
possibility of other ministers from Telangana following suit
on the statehood issue, they said.

Both Azad and Kiran attended a function at
Yerragondapalem in Prakasam district to mark the launch of
`Indira Jala Prabha` programme.

Later, they attended some inaugurations in Vijayawada and
also took part in the `Vande Gandheeyam` programme organised
by local MP Lagadapati Rajagopal to commemorate the 142nd
birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
