Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister
K Rosaiah has accused main opposition Telugu Desam Party of
failure in essaying the role of a responsible opposition.

"In my long political career, I have never seen a
principal opposition party behaving in such irresponsible
manner. Instead of discussing critical issues, the TDP has
been resorting only to disruption of the House repeatedly
without achieving any purpose," the Chief Minister told
newsmen after the Assembly was abruptly adjourned for the day
Saturday.

He said the government never shied away from debate on
any issue. "Rather, the opposition has failed to utilise the
opportunity to raise issues of public concern in the House and
elicit a response from the government," he pointed out.

Going down the memory lane, Rosaiah recalled how even
lone members in the opposition ranks used to corner the
government on important issues in the past. "The likes of
Tenneti Viswanadham, Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah, Putchalapalli
Sundarayya and Tarimela Nagireddy were all alone but they
always kept the government on toes," he noted.

The Chief Minister expressed regret over the
happenings in the Assembly and remarked that it was not good
for democracy.
